During 2008, 71 schools were held, training even more teenagers to become safe, responsible drivers--our goal for 2009 is 80 schools, from New Hampshire to California and Florida to Washington to Minnesota.

The primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a "hands-on" driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them.

| High Center of Gravity vehicles (HCGs), SUV, Trucks MiniVans, will need to be verified before being allowed to participate. Older HCGs without electronic stability control (not just the electronic traction control) will not be accepted. HCG vehicles with electronic stability control may still be limited with respect to the exercises in which they are allowed to participate, based on local venue conditions. Please look up the HCG vehicle safety score. You can research the safety ratings a vehicle has received at www.safercar.gov. This is for HCG vehicles only. Passenger cars do not need to be reviewed. Any vehicle with a listing of 3 stars or more out of 5 will be allowed to participate in our class. Any vehicle listed as [not tested] will not be allowed to participate. |

Last year, over 5,000 teenagers died in motor vehicle crashes, the leading killer of American youths aged 16 to 19, accounting for more than 40 percent of fatalities in that age bracket. To reduce this number, Tire Rack Street Survival® has developed a non-profit, national driver education program aimed at teaching teens the skills they need to stay alive behind the wheel.
